This 6-hour workshop will begin by discussing the fundamental pillars of video camera systems: aperture, shutter speed, focal length, format (sensor size), and white balance. Illustrated workshop notes will be provided to help participants gain a practical understanding of the material. Once these concepts are explained, the group will apply them all in a studio setting using current industry standard 4K video cameras, and each participant will have a chance to fill each role on set (Director of Photography, Camera Operator, Grip, Sound Recorder, and Subject).
This course will cover the following:
- Hands on experience with a professional 4K video camera
- Review of camera theory relating to imaging fundamentals
- Discussion and demonstration of accessories (proprietary and third party)
- Discussion of lighting theory and placement
- Hands on experience rotating crew positions in a studio shoot setting
- Discussion regarding more advanced techniques and accessories
- Digital copy of workshop notes/reference material
