Key West Video Announced as a 2022 National and Local Excellence Award Winner by UpCity!

taxes

It’s tax season and you only have the weekend left to get everything in order before filing on Monday. Are you ready? In the spirit of late April, we examine the potential crossover between filing your taxes and corporate video production. Put off doing those taxes for a few more minutes and dive in.

Promotional Video

Special services can be highlighted in a video

Right now, people are looking for help with their taxes. Video is a great promotional tool and could certainly be used by a tax preparation business. For a client like this, and with all videos, we’d use messaging that targets the intended audience. If the business specialized in preparing student returns, we could highlight the shop’s late hours, downtown location and reasonable fees. Another selling point could be the ability to efile, expediting returns from the Canada Revenue Agency.

Software Walk-through

We produce software walk-throughs for a variety of clients. If we had a tax software client, we could create a video showing how the software is user-friendly. An animated production would highlight the easy navigation and information updated for the current tax season. Animation is a great approach for this type of video with its ability to show off the product and emphasize product capabilities.

Government Resources

The deadline to file taxes is fast approaching

Key West Video sometimes works on projects for government and government-sponsored programs. If the Government of Canada wanted to make an informational video about tax time resources, we could certainly do that. This kind of video is best kept short with a simple presentation of the problem—my taxes need to be done—and the solution—go to this website or call this number for more information. It would also be a good idea to tease the viewer with a few examples of the types of resources available such as tax tips, submission information and late filing exceptions.

Book Promotion

Our final corporate video example is the hypothetical author. We’ve made videos for authors in the past, so we know how to promote a new book. Our editors like to use the book’s jacket for colour inspiration when it comes to video graphics, creating a visual thread throughout the piece. Asking questions that generate informative and entertaining answers makes for great interview footage. When we combine the interview and the book visuals with some related b-roll, you end up with (fictional author) Carol Estel’s newest work Doing Taxes Doesn’t Have to be Taxing on the best-seller list.

A Return on Your Investment

Even though the examples above are all fictional, they’re based on the kind of videos we create every day. Give Key West Video a call  to find out how we can help you promote your business, service or product. Good luck with your taxes!
