Imagine a world where major companies and corporations can view their audience’s reactions to their videos live. How would that influence their content?
Think about it: if companies had the ability to gauge their audience’s reactions in real time, would it affect their creative vision?
We’re living in an interesting digital age in which companies can interact with viewers in a myriad of ways. Gone are the days when public commercials and/or billboards reigned down on the public. Now, we can directly engage with ads and marketing campaigns, offer feedback, contribute to view counts or ignore a brand altogether. We have the power to control how we consume.
With that being said, what if there was a way for companies to pre-record videos and stream them live? Unlike Periscope, Facebook or Instagram Live, in which a user is, well, live, companies run the risk of saying, showing or doing the wrong thing. While it can be beneficial for clients and consumers to get a behind-the-scenes look into your company, it might not always be the best look for company confidentiality or work culture.
After all, how much is too much?
Well, what if there was a way to pre-record corporate videos on a live stream app? News organizations shoot pre-recorded “live” interviews that air at specific times. This way, audiences can more closely monitor their narrative and be more mindful of the information they give.
One downside to this would obviously be the “interactive” component of it all. While both Periscope and Instagram allow for users to post “hearts” and public comments during a live broadcast (that disappear once the user is “off the air”), Facebook Live allows users to comment on videos and save the video after the fact. With all three options, the video is still live and unpredictable.
With this in mind, companies might be more ambiguous with their marketing. While their message might remain clear as day, how much they actually give their viewers might change drastically. Pre-recorded videos might give us the feel that a company is giving us access into their corporate culture, but we might be getting a polished, calculated draft.
Nevertheless, with new and existing technologies, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before companies are given the option to pre-record videos and stream them live. And it’s video production companies like Key West Video who’d be just the ones to do it.
