On July 7th, 2020, Key West Video attended our first Virtual Networking Event – “Back to Business,” hosted by “The Networker.” Virtual Networking has been growing in popularity, especially since COVID-19 took the world by storm.
It was a unique experience, and we learned a lot along the way. We met so many wonderful people. The software this event took place on was Hopin. This platform has so many amazing features that we’ll highlight a bit more in detail in this post.
Reception
Firstly we have the reception area which gives you a brief overview of the event and the schedule. You may find some notes and updates from the organizers in this section as well.
Stage
Next up, we have the virtual stage. Key West Video was a sponsor at this event, and we got to say a few words at the beginning on the virtual stage. There are chat boxes along the side so you can chat with the whole event, people who are at the stage area, and if you have a backstage pass, you can chat with your peers backstage.
Sessions
This event, in particular, didn’t have any breakout sessions, but the platform allows you to have breakout sessions with individuals randomly assigned and sorted. How amazing is that?
Networking
The networking section of this platform randomly pairs you with individuals, also exploring this feature on a video call. The call lasts 5 minutes and gives you both an opportunity to chat with each other. It’s essentially speed networking! If you want to continue the conversation past the 5 minutes, you can invite the person to video call directly, or you can connect with them through the platform and get their contact information!
Expo
This is where Key West Video had a virtual booth, and it was a great time. We operated our booth, and people could just hop in and say hi whenever they wanted. We got to chat, network, and if someone was interested in us, they could register their interest, and an email would appear right to our inbox! This function made it especially easy to follow up with those we met after the event.
It was a unique experience, and we can’t wait to attend our next virtual event. Have you done a virtual networking event? Let us know your thoughts!
