In Corporate Video, facial recognition is nothing new.
In fact, facial recognition is a thing of the past.
From science fiction films to edgy tech commercials, facial recognition is not a new concept. We’ve seen cool, futuristic films scan the details on thumbs and faces for years in order to gain access to top secret rooms. We’ve also witnessed tech commercials use face scanners to unlock new and innovative technology.
In corporate video, this also isn’t new. In fact, it falls much in line with speculative fiction films, in which talent will use facial recognition for some service or product. Whether it’s to reveal something or the product is facial recognition itself, it adds an element of mystery to your video (and not to mention ups the intrigue) when anticipating a new reveal.
Face recognition is most prevalent for day-to-day devices, such as smartphones, tablets/iPads, and computers. It can also potentially be used for at-home technologies like video games or alarm systems.
For companies that can’t accommodate the technology, the idea of face recognition can be used in corporate video for creative purposes. The idea of having to “unlock” something in order to view or hear something else can be quite useful. Perhaps an old client is unlocking a device to view a message from a CEO. Or maybe an actor is using face ID to read how their facial expression ranks amongst others.
Whatever your storyline and creative idea is, face ID/recognition is a great way to explore an old trick in a new way by forcing both talent and viewers to think differently about technology, innovation, privacy, and convenience.
In many ways, face recognition is simply a new password to the future.
