Case Study: Iqbal Halal Foods

Challenge:

Keywest Video was contacted by the El Saihaan Corporation to produce a company profile video in order to highlight their supermarket Iqbal Halal Foods. The goal of the video was to showcase not only the fact that the grocery store was catered to individuals in search of Halal products, but also to highlight that they were a community based store with a focus on aiding and improving the Muslim Canadian community.

Solution:

The final product was a wonderful representation of the store, their employees, their customers, and their drive and dedication for creating a friendly and inclusive shopping experience for those interested in Halal products or South Asian cuisine.

The video begins with several shots of the store, including shoppers strolling down the aisles, employees assisting customers at the meat department, and some quick cuts of various products. Due to the length of the video we tried to keep the shots as varied and unique as possible. One interesting clip that was included was a sped up shot from the point of view of a shopping cart weaving between the aisles and customers.

Through the voice-over key information about the store was expressed, such as the fact that they are the largest South Asian Halal grocery store in Ontario, they are open from 7am to midnight and their customers often travel large distances to shop there specifically. The reason they are receiving such acclaim is due to their great variety of fresh produce, spices, bakery items and Ontario grown Halal meat.

Another key component was several testimonials/addresses to camera scattered throughout the video from Directors, the President of the company, and one customer. The customer testimonial is from a young boy who describes why his family shops at Iqbal Halal Foods, due to the Halal products, his search for nuggets, and the fact that the store has everything that they need. This testimonial along with the words from the Directors and President show an intimate side to the company.

The visuals mixed together with the testimonials and voice-over creates a cohesive and engaging representation of the store. The video highlights the community friendly nature of the store and what keeps shoppers coming back.
